Mammoth Industries played a vital role in supporting a major electrical power grid overhaul in Puerto Rico, providing essential workforce accommodations for the linemen and support crews responsible for rebuilding the island’s electrical infrastructure. Our expertise in workforce lodging and logistical solutions ensured that over 700 workers had a safe, comfortable place to stay while restoring power to affected communities.
To meet the unique challenges of this project, Mammoth Industries retrofitted two 100’ x 400’ barges, transforming them into submersible platforms that enabled the secure transport of non-motorized accommodation vessels. These vessels were floated onto the barges, cradled, and secured, then towed across the ocean from the Gulf of Mexico to Yabucoa, Puerto Rico using ocean-going tugs. This innovative approach ensured the safe and efficient relocation of workforce housing, allowing workers to remain stationed near the heart of the restoration efforts.
Mammoth Industries provided a full-service accommodation experience, ensuring that workers were well-supported throughout the duration of the project. Our services included:
Catering Services – High-quality meal preparation to keep crews fueled and focused.
Vessel Maintenance & Support – Ensuring the safety and functionality of the accommodation vessels.
Housekeeping Services – Maintaining clean and sanitary living quarters.
Medical Services – On-site healthcare to address the well-being of all personnel.
Security Services – 24/7 protection to safeguard workers and infrastructure.
This project was instrumental in restoring power to Puerto Rico following widespread grid failures. By providing high-quality accommodations and essential support services, Mammoth Industries enabled linemen and technical crews to focus on their critical work without concerns about lodging, meals, or security. Our turnkey workforce housing solutions ensured efficiency, comfort, and safety in one of the most logistically challenging disaster recovery efforts in recent history.
As Mammoth Industries continues to deliver workforce lodging solutions worldwide, our experience in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, stands as a testament to our ability to adapt, innovate, and support large-scale infrastructure recovery projects in even the most demanding environments.
